Goal of the Diploma

  • The Diploma in Geospatial Information Technology Applications aims to prepare a new generation of graduates for the labor market in the new digital transformation in the country with scientific qualifications in the field of geospatial applications, in addition to using ICT integration skills and special web applications for GIS fields in their own fields.
  • The diploma curriculum has been carefully designed to meet the needs of the labor market of specialists for digital transformation in the fields of spatial sciences. This professional diploma provides the needs of future leaders and professionals with spatial analytical skills that go beyond what the traditional curriculum provided in the bachelor program and to reflect the realistic requirements of GIS systems and information and communication technology necessary for professions in Geospatial sciences to achieve the skills needed to see the future nation of intelligence, digital government and various development sectors.


The Targeted Students

The diploma targets those who are interested in spatial data science, and they are as follows:

- University graduates from all disciplines in Egypt

- Graduates working in GIS units in government agencies, institutions, and various companies.

- Graduates working in research centers related to spatial data science.



Study System and Study Plan

Study System

The study system is subject to the general rules stipulated in the unified regulation for graduate studies at Cairo University, its executive rules, and any other rules set by the university within the framework of the regulations approved by the Supreme Council of Universities

Study Period

  • 24 credit hours divided on 2 semesters                                           12 credit hours each semester

 

  • 2 days/week (4PM - 9 PM)

Diploma Costs and Fields of Work

Study Cost

 

  • Application Filing Cost: 300 EGP (200EGP refunded if not accepted)
  • Diploma Cost: 16,000 EGP

Obtained Degree

Upon passing the academic subjects, the student obtains a professional diploma in Spatial Information Technology Applications accredited by Cairo University (CU) and the American Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI).

The diploma focuses on providing the graduate with a set of skills and abilities that will give him a competitive advantage to work in the following professions:

Courses

The diploma materials are designed for the student to be divided into two levels that are taught and applied using the latest version of the ARCGIS PRO software issued by ESRI.

First Level (First Semester)

Fundamentals and skills of GIS applications in spatial domains

 

 

  • Advanced Ground Survey Systems (EP 506) 3 credit hours
  • Computer in Regional and Urban Planning (URP 502) 3 credit hours
  • Advanced Geographical Information Systems (EP1251) 3 credit hours
  • Applied Project (URP 503) 3 credit hours

Second Level (Second Semester)

Fundamentals and skills of modern web applications of participatory geographic information systems using information and communication technologies

 

 

  • Computer Applications (URP 505) 3 credit hours
  • GIS Applications in Regional Planning (RD 505) 3 credit hours
  • Graduation Project (EP504) 6 credit hours

  • Learn the basics and theories of geographic information systems and the skills of dealing with the MASTERING ARCGIS PRO program
  • Practical training on the processes of entering spatial and descriptive data, Data Entry GIS, and modern tools and techniques using ARCGIS PRO Advanced Editing tools and techniques
  • Skill in dealing with spatial and collaborative databases on the web and its applications
